Ken Creary is the Chair of the Community Developmentn Citizens Advisory Committee for the City of White Plains, NY. The White Plains’ Community Development program provides grant funding to local public service agencies, funds public facilities and infrastructure improvements, housing code enforcement activities and the Neighborhood Rehabilitation Program. The CDCAC serves three main purposes: To hold public hearings on the development and past performance of the Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plans and to make recommendations on how CDBG funds should be allocated. To assist the City in assessing the needs of its resident and neighborhoods. To reflect on the past performance of CDBG projects and program and to make recommendations for improvements. As an Advanced Leadership Partner, Ken Creary joined his wife Lauren in her Advanced Leadership Fellowship at Harvard University. The Advanced Leadership Initiative is designed to prepare experienced leaders to take on new challenges in the social sector where they potentially can make an even greater societal impact than they did in their careers. As a Partner in the program Ken will participate in Lauren's project and in a research project at the Kennedy School for Government. The Advanced Leadership Initiative was formed by Faculty from Harvard's professional schools of Business, Education, Government, Law, Medicine and Public Health to build knowledge about societal challenges requiring interdisciplinary leadership skills and to capitalize on demographic changes that create opportunities to educate and deploy accomplished leaders at later life stages in public service. Ken is the former President of the Board of Directors of Sheltering the Homeless Is Our Responsibility, Inc. (SHORE,) an all-volunteer not-for-profit agency. SHORE's primary mission is providing permanent housing for families in the emergency shelter system in Westchester County, NY. Ken retired from IBM where he worked with customers and clients in the Financial Markets and Insurance industry sectors for more than 30 years.
